AS FAR AS YOU CAN SEE.
God told Abram to lift his eyes and look. Genesis 13 on vision rooted in trust, and why today's view shouldn't set the limit on tomorrow.

The short of it
- What fills your attention shapes what you imagine is possible.
- A larger vision should produce faithful action, not passive daydreaming.
- God's direction is greater than our ability to control the outcome.
The horizon changes when you lift your eyes.
You can become so occupied with the ground beneath your feet that you forget there's a world beyond your current circumstances. The next responsibility is real. So is the possibility you haven't considered yet.
Vision doesn't begin with pretending the present is different. It begins with refusing to let the present be the only thing you can see.
Lift Your Eyes
In Genesis 13, Abram and Lot separate because their households and livestock have grown too large to remain together. Lot chooses the well-watered Jordan plain. Abram stays in Canaan.
Then God tells Abram to lift his eyes and look north, south, east, and west. God renews the promise of land and descendants and tells Abram to walk through the land (Genesis 13:14–17).
Notice the sequence. Abram doesn't manufacture the promise by thinking bigger. God speaks first. Abram is invited to see what God has promised and to respond.
This is more than positive thinking. It's vision rooted in trust.
Don't Let Today Define Tomorrow
A narrow view can become a quiet prison. We see our current resources, current position, current habits, and decide those things must also define our future.
But the person you are today isn't the full measure of who you can become.
Lift your eyes. Consider the responsibilities worth growing into. Imagine what faithfulness, preparation, and courage could make possible over time.
And then return to the ground in front of you. Vision isn't an escape from the work. It gives the work direction.
Abram's promise was a particular covenant promise, not a blank check that every dream we have will come true. The enduring lesson is that God's word deserves a wider horizon than our immediate circumstances allow.
The move
Write down one possibility you've stopped considering because it feels too far away. Then name the capability, relationship, or act of obedience that would move you toward it. Take the first measurable step this week.
Look further. Then walk faithfully.
The Foundation
“Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land which you see, I will give to you, and to your offspring forever.”
Genesis 13:14–15
